A1:Main Campus:The Quiet Room for new students are on the part floors of Dormitories Hsin. For current students, Quiet Room are on the 4th and 5th floor of Dormitory Shinn building C for males, and on the second floor of Dormitory Wen for females.
Nanda Campus:No quiet room.
Q2:Are roommates of the Quiet Room from the same department?
A2:Like the normal dorms for new students, roommates of Quiet Room are randomly chosen by the computer.
Q3:Are the dorm fees of Quiet Room higher?
A3:The charging standards of Quiet Room are in accordance of the dorm fees of each Dormitory. There’s no need to pay extra charge.
Q4:I am admitted to Residential College, but can I live in a Quiet Room?
A4:Students admitted to Residential College have to live in the dormitory for Residential College (Dormitories Jen and Shyr), and are unable to choose Quiet Room.
Q5:What are the restrictions on Internet access of Quiet Room?
A5:From 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day, the Internet is cut off in the Quiet Room. However, the study center in Quiet Dorms have wireless Internet access all day long and can be utilized freely.
Q6:What are the restrictions on ceiling lights for Quiet Room?
A6:The ceiling lights in the Quiet Room will be turned off at 12 a.m. every night, but the students can still use the desk lamps in the dorm rooms without any restrictions on time.
Q7:Are applicants of Quiet Room guaranteed to live in Quiet Room?
A7:If the number of applicants exceeds the number of beds available in the Quiet Room, the decision will be made from drawing lots by the computer. The results will be posted on the website of the Division of Student Housing. Those who aren’t chosen by the computer to live in the Quiet Room will be arranged in a normal dorm room for new students.
