Q1:Where are quiet rooms located in the dormitories?
A1:Main Campus: Dorm Hsin has quiet rooms for new students on various floors. For current students, quiet rooms are on the 4th and 5th floors of Dorm Shinn Building C for males, and 2nd floor of Dorm Wen for females. Nanda Campus: Quiet rooms are on the 1st floor of Shu-Te for males, and 4th floor of Ying-Hsi for females.
Q2:Are quiet room residents from the same department?
A2:Like regular dorms for new students, quiet room residents are randomly assigned by the computer.
Q3:Are quiet rooms more expensive?
A3:Quiet rooms are the same rate as other rooms. There's no extra charge.
Q4:I am admitted to Residential College, but can I stay in a quiet room?
A4:Students admitted to Residential College must stay in its dormitories (Jen or Shyr), and cannot choose to stay in a quiet room.
Q5:What are the regulations for Internet use in quiet rooms?
A5:The Internet connection is cut off from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day. However, the study rooms provide 24-hr wireless Internet access free of charge.
Q6:What are the regulations for using ceiling lights in quiet rooms?
A6:The ceiling lights are turned off at 12 midnight every day, but there's no restriction on the use of desk lamps.
Q7:Are quiet room applicants guaranteed to live in a quiet room?
A7:If the number of applicants exceeds the number of beds available in quiet rooms, assignment will be made by computerized lot-drawing. The results will be posted on the Division of Student Housing website. Those who aren't selected will be assigned to general rooms.
